Our students have received many awards and honours during their education in our school as well as dean’s and rector’s awards in their further education. Many of them volunteer and do community work in their free time. They have come up with and implemented preventive and ecological activities and partnered in European projects. After leaving our high school they have become doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, doctors of science and above all hard workers.
We have invested a lot over the years in the technical and material conditions of our school, we try to foster creativity and innovation among the students and the teachers and other school associates regularly go to different professional trainings.
The school has been collaborating with the city of Glina as well as the county office, many organisations and companies and we also try to involve our student’s parents in our projects.
On December 29th 2020, a destructive earthquake almost totally destroyed our region and greatly damaged our school building. The building has been declared as temporary unusable but further smaller earthquakes and earth trembling have made the damaged even greater. We hope and believe we will get help from the appropriate authorities as well as everyone else willing to help us because we can’t do it alone.
High School Glina is the only high school in this town and needless to say, the closing of our school would be a great loss for our town as well our region. We currently have 198 students and 44 employees who mostly live near the school and have been affected by the earthquake. Thirteen students with their families and three of our employees have lost their homes during the earthquake.
It is very unlikely we will be able to return to our school building this coming second semester so we ask for your help.
All of the funds deposited to the school’s account will be recorded, public and transparent and will only be used to repair the damage on the school building, to continue the educational process and helping our students and employees affected by the earthquake.
Every donation is greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
Marija Margušić-Novosel, school principal
